Olivia Baptism | Timisoara, Romania

The week-end of Olivia’s baptism was definitely a memorable one for me, one of the few occasions when I shot more than one event per week-end.

I avoid shooting two events over the same week-end because covering a wedding is a draining job that requires being on top of your game and staying sharp for anywhere between 10 and 18 hours; jumping into a second event straight after, I feel, is brutal on any photographer’s body and mind and perhaps a bit unfair to our couples who expect us to give it our best.

What was different about this week-end then? Well, it was a family event. Cristina, my bride for that Sunday, told me her sister Andreea was expecting a baby and wondered if I could also join them for the baptism. Olivia’s baptism was on Saturday, followed by her aunt’s wedding on Sunday, so it was quite possibly one of the best ways to spend a family week-end :) With that in mind, I wanted to take the opportunity to meet the family and I also felt these were two events I’d love to be a part of.

Andreea and Serban held the baptism in the same church where they got married, and the afterparty at Hotel Vanilla in Timisoara. They wanted a laid back and low-key event surrounded by a small number of family and close friends and the hotel garden, hidden from the world and a tad vintage, was an excellent choice for that.

Thank you both for trusting me, and enjoy the photos!

“Thank you Vlad for capturing such vivid pictures on our daughter’s Olivia christening day. A year has already passed since the event, however every time we look at the pictures you took we re-experience the magic and the joy we felt that day. You have managed to capture the feelings, the atmosphere and the sheer joy we shared with our dear ones and this is truly an exceptional thing. The snapshots are so real – nothing is forced, no one is smiling awkwardly at the camera, as you have been the invisible guest at the party, but the one that saw everything and that captured every special moment for eternity. It was a pleasure working with you and we are looking forward to sharing these pictures with our dear Olivia, when she will grow older, as we’re sure that thanks to you she will be able to get the full picture of that special day :)”
